Christ - The Anointed One. “The anointed follower of the Anointed One.” Difference between Indwelling and Infilling of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit - Parakletos – Para (alongside) Kletos – Invite, come, walk. Come alongside you and walk beside you. Holy Spirit is a Person. * He can be __________________. (Acts 7:51) * He never violates a human will nor forces His power or gifts on anyone. * He even entrusts the control of His gifts to their recipients. (1 Cor 14:28) BIG IDEA: Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not about having more of Him but whether He can have more of us. Eph 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. How to receive or be filled with the Spirit? Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Mk 11:24) * Ask * Believe * Receive Applications Questions: 1. What is the most significant thing the Holy Spirit spoke to you about through this sermon? 2. Describe the difference between the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit and the Infilling of the Holy Spirit. Try explaining using the illustration of the glass and water. 3. Have you received the baptism in the Holy Spirit? How did it happen and can you describe your experience? If you have not, it is a good time now to ask Jesus to baptise you with the Holy Spirit through the laying of the hands of your CG members. (Do this collectively at the end of the CG meeting.) 4. What does it mean to receive power to live the new life? Are there areas of your life where you feel defeated as a Christian? How can you overcome them in the light of the baptism in and continual infilling of the Holy Spirit? 5. What are some of the inward, upward and outward evidences shown in your life? Are there specific areas the Holy Spirit is impressing upon you to work on?
